BEFORE IT WAS A HIT SONG…
These songs are well known
but you may not know about the earlier attempts to score a hit record with
prior versions of the same song.
One Way Ticket
Disco group Eruption scored a worldwide hit with a remake of "I Can't Stand The Rain" in 1978. The following year, the band issued its 'Leave A Light' LP which included another hit single: "One Way Ticket". Again, the disc made the Top 10 in various countries.
The latter was a remake of a song originally recorded by Neil Sedaka. In 1959, the American recording artist's version was the B-side for his major hit "Oh! Carol". "One Way Ticket" reached the top in Japan.
