BEE
GEES
The Bee Gees consisted of siblings Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. The latter 2 were twins. The former was born in Manchester, England and his brothers on the Isle Of Man. In 1958, the Gibb family migrated to Brisbane, Australia. It was here that the brothers began to seriously pursue a musical career.
Domestically, "Spicks And Specks" was taking off just as the brothers headed back to the UK in 1966. In time, The Bee Gees became a chart force internationally with #1 hits such as "Massachusetts", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You", "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?". By the mid-70s, the group shifted direction, embracing disco and spawning a series of #1s for the trio, brother Andy and other artists. This period of chart domination produced the singles "Night Fever", "Jive Talkin'", "How Deep Is Your Love", "You Should Be Dancing", "Tragedy", "Too Much Heaven" and "Love You Inside Out".
A backlash against disco ensued with most of the venom directed to the trio. Nevertheless, the brothers continued influencing pop music trends, producing successful discs for Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
The trio was back in favour by 1987 with British #1 "You Win Again". Maurice died in 2003. Robin passed away in 2012. Barry has since continued as a soloist, releasing the 'In The Now' album in 2016.
