The opening track on ‘There Goes Rhymin’ Simon’ refers to a commercial product, resulting in it being banned by the BBC in Britain. Over in America, where no such policy was in force, “Kodachrome” flew to #2.

THE ONLY LIVING BOY IN NEW YORK

“The Only Living Boy In New York” is a lush masterpiece, laden with sublime harmonies. Simon’s lyrics refer to a “Tom”, harking back to the duo’s days as Tom & Jerry. It finds the songwriter lamenting that his partner is in Mexico on the film set of ‘Catch 22’. It remains one of the highlights on ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’.
