While Simon worked on ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, Garfunkel was busy on the set of the film ‘Catch 22’. This caused tension between the two and helped accelerate the split. Some songs, including “Why Don’t You Write Me”, reflect the disintegration of the partnership.
