Since the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest, 51 countries have competed in the annual event. This look back features each country in order of appearance and highlights that nation’s best entry so far.

2008
Serbia had competed as an independent nation for the first time at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. “Molitva”, the Serbian entry, emerged victorious. Belgrade was the host city for the ESC the following year.
A record-breaking 43 countries competed in 2008. Russia won with “Believe”. Two countries made their debut: San Marino and Azerbaijan. Only the latter progressed to the Grand Final that year.
