10 NILE RODGERS 

🔴 As one of the funkmiesters in the group Chic (alongside Bernard Edwards), Rodgers created a new fusion of funk, R&B and disco which spawned dancefloor fillers like “Le Freak” and “Good Times”. Many of Chic’s tracks have been sampled by hip-hop artists- most famously the latter for “Rapper’s Delight”. Rodgers himself went on to produce #1 hits for Diana Ross (“Upside Down”), David Bowie (“Let’s Dance”) and Madonna (“Like A Virgin”). He has also produced for Sister Sledge, Debbie Harry, INXS, Duran Duran, Carly Simon, Bryan Ferry and Tina Arena.

Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff produced for soul legends that include Teddy Pendergrass, The O'Jays, Lou Rawls, MFSB, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Patti Labelle and Billy Paul.

❒ ABBA’s recordings are deceptive: they sound simplistic but on closer focus reveal a technique that many have tried to emulate with less success. The music is complex and often ahead of its time.
