TAKE ME HOME, COUNTRY ROADS
John Denver (with Fat City)
1971
U.S.A. - #2
Trivia:
The group Fat City shared credit for the hit "Take Me Home, Country Roads" with John Denver. The seed of the idea for the song came from Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert. Denver helped complete the song and recorded it. The single became his first chart smash as a soloist. Five years later, when his co-writers formed a new group named The Starland Vocal Band, Denver signed them to his Windsong label. The result was the #1 hit "Afternoon Delight".
