BET’CHA GONNA NEED MY LOVIN’

La Toya Jackson

In contrast to Rebbie and Janet, La Toya attracted controversy at various stages of her life. The fifth Jackson child released a number of albums, but her output never matched the heights achieved by Janet and her brothers. In 1984, the track was lifted as a single off her ‘Heart Don’t Lie’ album.

DOCTOR MY EYES

The Jackson 5

Jackson Browne scored a Top 10 hit with this self-penned song. That same year, The Jackson 5 cut a remake which was included on the ‘Lookin’ Through The Windows’ LP. While the song did not chart in America, the cover version was a British Top 10 single.

THINK HAPPY

The Jacksons

After 7 years on the Motown label, the brothers’ frustration with the lack of creative control led to a decision to sign with Epic Records. Jermaine was married to Motown chief Berry Gordy Jr.’s daughter so he decided to remain with the label. His brothers’ first album for the new label was ‘The Jacksons’. The album reflected the change in the group’s name. As Motown owned the rights to the moniker “Jackson 5”, the group would continue as “The Jacksons”. Issued in 1976, the album contained “Think Happy”, written and produced by the legendary team of Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.
