<<<THE T⏳ME CAPSULE<<<
WHAT ABOUT ME?
Kenny Rogers with
Kim Carnes & James Ingram
1984
U.S.A. - #15
Trivia:
Kenny Rogers wrote "What About Me?" with David Foster and Richard Marx. When it was decided that the singer should record it with two others, the project was pitched to Lionel Richie and Barbra Streisand. Plans stalled when the former changed his mind. Streisand then opted out. The next combo set up consisted of Olivia Newton-John and Jeffrey Osborne. Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees had recorded a duet with the former and was concerned "What About Me?" would compete with their collaboration. This led to Newton-John backing out. Osborne pulled out too. The project was then pitched again to 2 other singers. This time, Kim Carnes and James Ingram agreed and the single was finally released. The collaboration reached #1 on the US Adult Contemporary Chart.
