Caffè Lattè has compiled a list of 100 of the best songs from stage shows. These are all songs created specifically for the stage productions and not theatrical versions of movies or jukebox musicals (eg. “The Lion King”, “Saturday Night Fever” or “Mamma Mia!” and “Jersey Boys”). Guys And Dolls

The musical opened on Broadway in 1950 and went on to collect the Tony Award for Best Musical. This song is performed by Adelaide, the fiancée of Nathan Detroit who has been waiting patiently for 14 years for a wedding.

GOOD MORNING BALTIMORE

Hairspray

The 1988 John Waters film inspired the musical which premiered in Seattle in 2002. Later that year, it opened on Broadway. This song is performed by Tracey in the production’s opening scene. It scooped up 8 Tony Awards in 2003, including Best Musical.
