Babyface and L.A. Reid wrote "Every Little Step". The songwriting/ production team first offered the song to Midnight Star. They passed on it. When the duo prersented it to Bobby Brown, he was keen on the song. "Every Little Step" was included on the 1988 album 'Don't Be Cruel'. It was lifted as the LP's fourth single the following year.
