Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock wrote the two major hits from the 'Top Gun' soundtrack album. Both songs were offered to the American group Berlin. They passed on "Danger Zone" and scored an international smash with "Take My Breath Away". The song collected the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Original Song.
