CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1500 CHOICE TRACKS

#295 FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE Stevie Wonder
The title track from Stevie Wonder's 1968 album was a song written by Motown staffers Ron Miller and Orlando Murden. Tony Bennett recorded it in 1967. Wonder's remake was produced by Henry Cosby and released as a single the following year. This cover competed against a version by Jackie Wilson. The latter's remake only reached #70 while Wonder's upbeat interpretation peaked at #2 on both the Pop and R&B Charts in the USA. In Britain, the disc reached #3.
Subsequent versions of the hit song have been recorded by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Gladys Knight and The Pips, Craig David, Michael Buble, Harry Connick Junior and Michael McDonald. In 1994, a new version was included on Frank Sinatra's 'Duets II' album, a collaboration with Knight and Wonder.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new instalments are added each day (every 12 hours) with 1 of the remaining 300 songs as well as moving down from #1201 to 1500, with 5 of those songs added daily.
