'Thank God It's A Friday' was a disco movie that hit cinemas in 1978. Summer played an aspiring singer and performed "Last Dance" in the film. "Last Dance" was the 1st disco song to win an Oscar.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Frankie Say... Dance! This 1983 Hi-NRG hit topped charts in Britain, Europe, Asia and Israel. It went Top 10 in many other markets. "Relax" has been re-mixed several times since its initial release.

British producer Ronson recruited American singer Mars for this retro-pastiche of 80s & 90s dance / hip hop / funk. The single reached #1 on every continent in 2014-5.

Abba
ABBA entered the 1980s with a new approach to dance music. "Lay All Your Love On Me" recalled disco but with the addition of synth pop and Eurodance. The 12" version was a best seller in the UK.

The Dutch duo broke through around the globe with 1991's "Get Ready For This" from debut album 'Get Ready'. 2 Unlimited were among the leading exponents of Eurodance / techno in the early 1990s.

Marvin Gaye
The Prince of Soul cut this ultra-smooth disco track for Motown Records. In 1977, "Got To Give It Up" reached #1 on the US Pop, Soul and Disco charts.

This acid-house hit was issued in 1988 by British duo Coldcut featuring Yazz (& The Plastic Population) on vocals. She would later release the awesome hit "The Only Way Is Up". "Doctorin' The House" featured samples aplenty.

The Grid
In 1994, this instrumental dance track was issued by British electronica group The Grid. "Swamp Thing" went Top 5 in Britain, Europe, Canada and Australia and fused disparate styles.

Salt -n-Pepa
Until the arrival of Salt-n-Pepa, hip hop was dominated by males and sexist themes. The rap female act changed the rules forever. "Push It" mixed dance with hip hop to great effect. In 1988, the track reached the Top 10 in Europe, Britain, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
