A hit prior to the release of the sisters' "We Are Family", the oft-sampled disco track "He's The Greatest Dancer" was another hit penned by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards (of Chic). The single topped the US Disco and Soul Charts in 1979.

C+C Music Factory
Dance re-emerged as a dominant chart force in the 1990s. Revolving around David Cole and Robert Clivilles, C+C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat" features vocals from Martha Wash and Freedom Williams. The hip house song made #1 on America's Dance, R&B and Pop charts in 1990-1.

Bee Gees
Released prior to the box office hit film 'Saturday Night Fever', The Bee Gees' 1976 single "You Should Be Dancing" went to #1 on both the Disco and Pop charts in America. It was later added to the film soundtrack.

Underworld
The radically innovative "Born Slippy" from the British electronic group Underworld reached #2 in Britain during 1996.

Village People
"Y.M.C.A." was unleashed in late 1978. Few could have foreseen its enduring popularity, with punters still imitating the disco group's choreography today. The single reached #1 in the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia.

Irene Cara
Irene Cara created the iconic 80s hit "Flashdance... What A Feeling" with Donna Summer's previous collaborators Giorgio Moroder and Keith Forsey. In 1983, the single topped charts in America, Canada, Japan, Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand. It peaked at #2 in the UK.

Donna Summer
Numerous dance hitmakers cite Giorgio Moroder as a major inspiration. "Our Love", featured on Donna Summer's 1979 'Bad Girls' album, is another influential dance track. While it contains echoes of disco, it looks to the electronic future of dance music. Moroder co-wrote and co-produced the track.

The Fatback Band
"(Are You Ready) Do The Bus Stop" has been immortalized by the dance move that is still practised to this day. The Fatback Band released the disco track in 1976.
