Diana Ross
Ross had reinvented herself before, evolving from a Supreme to become a solo superstar and film actress. She had accumulated hits across genres such as soul, disco and AC. In 1980, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards gave her a funky makeover with this global #1 hit.

WALK THIS WAY
Run DMC
Rap struggled until Run DMC recruited Aerosmith's Steve Tyler and Joe Perry for their hip hop remake of the US rock band's "Walk This Way". The unlikely combo gave rap its 1st US Top 10 hit in 1986.
