Despite scoring many chart-topping singles in America, Elton John's first British solo #1 hit was "Sacrifice". When originally issued as a single in 1989, the disc stalled at #55 in the UK. The following year, the song was re-released as part of a double A-side with "Healing Hands" and finally reached #1.
