In 1990, the French and Irish entries shared second place behind the winning song from Italy. The former featured most lyrics in French and some in English. It was written by Serge Gainsbourg.

GERMANY / 1981
Only 4 points separated Germany's entry from the winning UK song "Making Your Mind Up". This was one of the many entries composed by Ralph Siegel for Eurovision over several decades.

SWITZERLAND / 1958
The first Eurovision was won by "Refrain", performed by Lys Assia representing Switzerland in 1956. She returned to the contest in 1957 and 1958. "Giorgio" was performed in Italian and even beat Domenico Modugno's "Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Volare)" which finished in 3rd place for Italy.
