This post concludes the countdown.
A new countdown begins tomorrow.
EUROVISION 2020
THE 41 SONGS:
(in order of preference)
This
year’s Eurovision Song Contest may have been cancelled, but 41 songs were
selected to represent the 41 participating countries. Caffè Lattè has ranked all of the entries in terms
of sonic quality, as it does annually in a Top 41. The higher the ranking, the
better the song.

Little Big
Russia
The group
Little Big formed in 2013 and has built up a solid following in Europe. Infused
with a ton of fun, the quirky and arty track is one of the best ever offerings
from Russia. This entry deserved to finish high and might have led to a second
Russian triumph at Eurovision.
#2
FAI RUMORE
Diodato
Italy
Antonio
Diodato penned this emotional song himself. He won the Sanremo Festival with it
and certainly had a strong chance of winning Eurovision. This is a first class
song that is crafted beautifully with moving lyrics. One of Italy’s best ESC
songs ever.
#1
RELEASE ME
Hooverphonic
Belgium
Hooverphonic have been performing for a quarter century. They are best known
for the sublime “Mad About You”. Group member Alex Callier wrote the lyrics himself
and composed the music with Luca Chiaravalli. The lush ballad sounds perfect
for a James Bond title song. Beautiful and masterfully executed, this is the best
song from this year’s crop. Fortunately, Hooverphonic have been confirmed to
represent Belgium at Eurovision in 2021.
