Since it began back in 1956, there have been 64 winning
entries in the Eurovision Song Contest. Some have remained timeless and popular
classics, while others, in hindsight, may defy logic. Caffè Lattè lists ten entries
that belong in the latter category…

There’s no doubting the passion and
message behind this ESC winner, but the theme is too heavy for this forum. The
fact that “1944” was in breach of 2 Eurovision rules also places the Contest’s
consistency in question. Political songs are prohibited. “1944” deals with
Stalin’s deportation of the Crimean Tartars. The song had also been performed
before the permitted time frame for the 2016 Contest. Other entries in similar
circumstances have not been allowed.
