EUROVISION 2021
THE 39 SONGS
(in order of preference)
The number of competitors for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest has decreased to 39 with the withdrawal of Armenia and Belarus being disqualified. After being cancelled last year, the 2021 ESC will go ahead in Rotterdam in May. Caffè Lattè has ranked all of the entries in terms of sonic quality, as it does annually. The higher the ranking, the better the song.
*Note that a live performance and the on-stage presentation may alter the overall impact of a song.

BIRTH OF A NEW AGE
Jeangu Macrooy
The Netherlands
Dutch entry “Arcade” emerged triumphant at Eurovision in 2019. As a result, Rotterdam was selected as host city for 2020 and Macrooy was due to represent his homeland. The Contest was cancelled due to COVID-19. This year, The Netherlands will host the ESC. Its win guarantees “Birth Of A New Age” a spot in the Grand Final. The song will be performed mostly in English with some lyrics in Sranan Tongo, a language spoken in Macrooy's country of birth: Suriname. This is a quality vocal and song, requiring a few listens before it grows on the listener. That being said, the chances of back-to-back Dutch wins is very remote.
