EUROVISION 2021
THE 39 SONGS
(in order of preference)
The number of competitors for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest has decreased to 39 with the withdrawal of Armenia and Belarus being disqualified. After being cancelled last year, the 2021 ESC will go ahead in Rotterdam in May. Caffè Lattè has ranked all of the entries in terms of sonic quality, as it does annually. The higher the ranking, the better the song.
*Note that a live performance and the on-stage presentation may alter the overall impact of a song.

DARK SIDE
Blind Channel
Finland
Finland’s long wait for a Eurovision victory came to an end in 2006 with Lordi’s “Hard Rock Hallelujah”. It remains one of the most unique ESC-winning entries. Since then, Finland has struggled to attract high scores or to even qualify for the Grand Final. It was therefore inevitable that the Finns would return to the hard rock/ metal genre. “Dark Side” is catchy but also patchy. Some may find it too blatant a throwback to Lordi. The energetic entry will be featured during Semi-Final 2, which should make it a deserved qualifier for the Grand Final. This will appeal to viewers searching for an alternative from the usual ESC fare. Finland’s prospects for triumph, however, are remote.
