Agnetha Faltskog was arguably the ABBA member that delivered that group's most dramatic songs. Her solo career started off with promise, but the gaps between albums grew over the decades since the group had dissolved. Faltskog returned - in fine voice- with a strong selection of songs (all remakes) for 'My Colouring Book' in 2004. One of the standards she interpreted for the CD was "Sealed with a Kiss". The song had previously been a worldwide hit in 1962 for Brian Hyland and a UK #1 for Jason Donovan in 1989. While these earlier versions were easily categorized as straight forward pop ballads by teen idols, Faltskog's reading was slower, infused with melancholy and aching. The lyrics - by Gary Geld and Peter Udell- were brought to the forefront and this treatment exposed their true beauty and poignancy which had arguably been unnoticed till then.
