#1078 BAD Michael Jackson
By 1987, Michael Jackson had already basked in the glory of his ridiculously successful 'Thriller' album. Following up that record was always going to be impossible. The 'Bad' LP was a rather good attempt at matching its predecessor. The title track sees Jackson channelling James Brown at his funkiest. The song was written by Jackson. He co-produced the cut with Quincy Jones (who had handled those duties on both 'Off the Wall' and 'Thriller'). Jerry Hey contributed horns and Jimmy Smith's succinct organ- playing added an extra dimension to the track's overall sound.
