#1073 LIGHT MY FIRE Erma Franklin
Aretha Franklin's older sister Erma totally reinvents The Doors' classic song "Light my Fire" on this truly incendiary cover version. After years of trying to launch a solo career,  Erma finally scored success (albeit moderate and sporadic) in her own right. She cut the original version of the Janis Joplin hit "Piece of my Heart". Sadly, she was inevitably overshadowed by the Queen of Soul, but sister Aretha featured Irma on backup vocals and produced some of her material. 
"Light my Fire" was mostly written by Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger with credit on the label going to all band members. It was featured on her 1969 album, 'Soul Sister'. Erma passed away in 2002.
