#400 BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY Queen
Some music acts only need to have recorded 1 song to gain immortality. Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" is a prime example. That the track itself has maintained its legendary status for almost 40 years is impressive enough. Even more astounding is that the recording works at all. Imagine pitching the idea of a song such as "Bohemian Rhapsody", with its guitar rock, piano segment and operatic theatrics, all meshed seamlessly. That a song running 6 minutes received radio airplay is also surprising. Yet, somehow, it all works so well. 
Freddy Mercury created the masterpiece. The recording was produced by Roy Thomas Baker and the 4 members of Queen. Mercury, Roger Taylor and Brian May contribute the operatic vocals. Released as a single in late 1975, it was included on the band's 'A Night at the Opera' album. The single spent 9 weeks at #1 in the UK in 1976. It also reached the top in Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Ireland. In America, the disc peaked at #9. It still tops music polls to this day.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
