7 THE DAY BEFORE YOU CAME
Writers: Benny Andersson / Bjorn Ulvaeus
The final song recorded by ABBA was one of the group's best tracks. At the time, the members were unaware it was to be their swansong. Bjorn's songwriting reached another high, with lyrics dealing with the mundane things that happened until the protagonist meets a man. Benny constructed a song that was like no other in the ABBA canon. His work on the synthesizer makes the song exceptional. This was the only ABBA recording to not feature live drums, but a drum machine instead. Agnetha's vocal is perfect for the mood of the song. Frida's background vocals heighten the drama. This often overlooked track shows that ABBA still possessed great song ideas that were sadly never to be fully realized.8 RING RING
