#104 YOU'RE MY BEST FRIEND Queen
Queen releasing "Bohemian Rhapsody" was a brave gamble. The risky move proved to be fruitful for the group. It also revealed the breadth of Queen's musical sound: a far cry from the metal and glam of their earlier releases. Following up such a behemoth single was no mean feat. That task fell on "You're My Best Friend". Both tracks were lifted off Queen's 1975 album 'A Night at the Opera'.
"You're My Best Friend" was written by Queen's bass player, John Deacon. The song's lyrics referred to his wife. Deacon can be heard prominently throughout the track on electric piano. This, along with the tight harmonies, are features of the cut. Roy Thomas Baker co-produced the recording with Queen. Released as a single in 1976, "... Best Friend" reached #7 in Britain and 16 in America.

  This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice.
