CAFFE` LATTE` TOP 2000 TRACKS
#110 (I GOT YOU) I FEEL GOOD James Brown
By the time James Brown had assembled his team of session musicians to re-record the song "(I Got You) I Feel Good", the song had already proven its appeal. The final take on the funky track was cut on May 6, 1965 in Miami's Criteria Studio.
Brown wrote the song which he had 1st recorded in September 1964. Its genesis was a previous track 'The Godfather Of Soul' had cut, entitled "I Found You". He produced the new version which finally saw the light of day as a single release, amid legal disputes between record labels. It was the title track for Brown's 1966 album.
"I Feel Good" begins with an energetic scream from Soul Brother #1. The groove kicks in immediately and never lets up. It is 1 of the most infectious hit songs, bursting with a power that is guaranteed to have feet tapping or crowds dancing and feeling as "good" as its performer. Brown's delivery is impeccable and helps ensure this funky / soul track will remain timeless.
The single reached #3 Pop in the USA and reigned over the R&B Chart for 6 weeks. In Britain, the disc peaked at #29. Brown has many songs for which he is legendary, but "I Feel Good" is arguably his signature song.
Disco, rap, funk, hip hop and various other musical sub-genres owe much to the immense influence of this dynamic performer. He continued charting throughout the 1970s and less consistently in the Eighties.
He continued performing into his 70s. In 2004, he fought off prostrate cancer. In remission, Brown embarked on a world tour. In 2006, he was hospitalized with pneumonia. Early Christmas morning, Brown passed away due to heart failure.
This
is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I
cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks.
Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have
universal appeal.
They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal
choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a
better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
A
new song from the Top 2000 is added each day, while another 2 are also
included from positions 1501-2000 daily. Check back here every 12 hours
for
an update of the 2000.
