R. Kelly continued his flirting with retro-leaning smooth R&B on the accessible 'Write Me Back'. The songs are a far cry from the sexually loaded themes the often controversial artist usually explores. Here, the tracks evoke memories of smooth romancers such as Marvin Gaye, George Benson and Smokey Robinson. The whole set has a timeless quality.
