(1956-2015)
Now that the dust has settled on another fabulous Eurovision
Song Contest, it’s time to look back on the most important and influential

#3
POUPEE DE CIRE, POUPEE DE SON
FRANCE GALL
Luxembourg- 1965
It took a decade, but France
Gall’s win at Eurovision finally saw a hip and modern pop song claim first
prize. The teen from Paris represented Luxembourg with a song penned by Serge
Gainsbourg. The title translates into “wax doll, singing doll” in English. This
was the 2nd win for Luxembourg. More significantly, it proved a
modern song could win at Eurovision. Sandie Shaw proved this was no fluke 2 years
later. Today, that formula is taken for granted.
