At the start of the song, a woman is driving her car in the rain. She spots a younger man on the side of the road and offers him a lift. Believing fate has brought them together, they stop off at a motel and spend the night. When he awakes, she is long gone. Time passes and the 2 strangers meet again. He notices the child with her. As he recognizes how much the child looks like him, the woman explains that she is in a relationship and that their chance encounter was an opportunity to have a family: something her partner cannot provide.
