Slim is a popular performer. He has a fan named Stan who has developed an obsession. This devoted fanatic tries repeatedly to communicate with his idol. All of his efforts are in vain. As his frustration increases, the tone in the correspondence grows more menacing. In Stan’s mind, he has a very real connection with Slim. The fan has a pregnant girlfriend. He locks her in the boot of his car and plans to drown her. His vehicle goes off the bridge. All of the occupants in the car drown. In the meantime, Slim finally finds time to respond to his fanmail. While writing to Stan, it dawns on him that the crazed fan who killed himself and his pregnant girlfriend was in fact Stan.
