The song was originally known as “Tinkle Bells”. Due to its double meaning, the title was changed to “Silver Bells”. Numerous remakes exist. Among them are versions by Doris Day, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, The Carpenters and John Legend. The Supremes’ cover is featured on the trio’s  1965 Merry Christmas’ album.
