ALL THE EUROVISION COUNTRIES: (24). More: tomorrow.
Caffè ☕️Lattè looks back on:
ALL THE
EUROVISION
COUNTRIES
The Eurovision Song Contest was first held in 1956. Back then, only 7 countries participated. In the decades since, dozens of other nations have joined the ESC family. As Europe changed, countries faded into history as new countries and new names emerged. Eurovision itself has expanded beyond the European continent; to Africa, the Middle East and the Southern Hemisphere.
Our spotlight looks back on every country that has competed – in chronological order.
1981
The Eurovision Song Contest returned to a total of 20 nations participating in 1981, including a new addition to the fold; despite Italy and Morocco withdrawing. With the comeback of Yugoslavia and Israel, 20 nations converged on Dublin, Ireland.

CYPRUS
Malta and Cyprus have been waiting the longest for a win at the Eurovision Song Contest. Despite the former debuting earlier, the tiny nation has only participated 37 times. On the other hand, Cyprus joined the ESC family later, but has participated 41 times without achieving a win.
For years, its best result was fifth place in three different years. Cyprus came close to achieving its first victory in 2018 when “Fuego” was the runner-up. That entry was performed by Eleni Foureira. Cyprus will be competing in Semi-Final 1 this year with “Liar” to be sung by Australian singer Silia Kapsis.
