Barbra Streisand was so breathtaking in her portrayal of Fanny Brice, that she remains the benchmark for subsequent musical productions. The show will have another revival in London in 2016. In 1968, Streisand won an Oscar for her acting in the film adaptation. She starred opposite Omar Sharif. Both are credited on the album, but it is the former that outshines. She executes the showstoppers such as "Don't Rain On My Parade" like a seasoned Broadway veteran; despite her youth. She channels Brice with authenticity, injecting many tracks with humour. The pièce de résistance is the moving finale. Here, Streisand announces her arrival in the musical pantheon of first class performers. "My Man" is packed with sadness and defiance. Highlight tracks: My Man; Don't Rain On My Parade & People.
