ANOTHER PLACE AND TIME:
DONNA SUMMER
[1989]
Donna Summer had radically transformed dance music in the 1970s through her Euro-disco tracks recorded with producer Giorgio Moroder. By the 1980s, the versatile singer had moved away from the disco genre and explored R&B as well as other styles. This had worked well for some years but the material lacked consistency. By the mid-80s, Summer's chart presence had become too rare. The decision to kick start her career teaming her with Britain's mega- successful songwriting/ production team of Stock, Aitken & Waterman, was genius. The UK trio had created hits for Dead Or Alive, Kylie Minogue, Bananarama and Rick Astley. As had been the case with many of her Moroder collaborations, Summer helped co-write many of the songs that ended up on 'Another Place And Time'. It was her best album since 1982.
Highlight tracks: Love's About To Change My Heart; I Don't Wanna Get Hurt & This Time I Know It's For Real.
