The Eurovision Report…
A radical change to the presentation of the voting results will
be introduced at this year’s Eurovision. Host nation Sweden will adopt the
method loosely based on the process used for its national selections,
Melodifestivalen.
Viewers will see each participating country announce the 10 entries
its jury has awarded the most points to. This will be identical to the practice used in past years.
Then, the results of the televoting will be announced, from the country earning
the least points first and the one with the highest number of points revealed
last.
This should heighten the excitement as the winning entry won’t be known
too early in the process. A high score from judges may be insufficient to
secure victory once the public votes are added.
