-Pete Seeger dies.
-Christine McVie rejoins Fleetwood Mac; a world tour follows.
-Kate Bush embarks on her 1st tour since 1979.
-Frankie Knuckles dies.
-Casey Kasem (Radio host of weekly "American Top 40") dies.
-Lyricist Gerry Goffin dies.
-Bobby Womack dies.
-Tommy Ramone dies.
-An album of unreleased Michael Jackson songs is released posthumously.
-Joe Cocker dies.
In 2014, Pharrell became a household name. After years as a member of The Neptunes and working on other acts' recordings, his profile has increasingly grown in recent years. Collaborations with Robin Thicke ("Blurred Lines") and Daft Punk ("Get Lucky") culminated in the worldwide smash "Happy". Miley Cyrus shattered her Hannah Montana image attracting controversy. New acts on the charts during the year included Iggy Azalea, Hozier, Meghan Trainor and Sam Smith.
