EUROVISION
SONG
CONTEST
2017
KIEV
THE
42 SONGS RANKED IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE*
The
ESC begins on May. There will be 2 Semi-Finals with 10 from each night joining
the defending country and the Big 5 nations in the Grand Final.
* These
are the 42 songs based on the official recorded studio versions. Of course, the
presentation on stage can alter the overall reaction.
1
ITALY
OCCIDENTALI’S
KARMA –
FRANCESCO GABBANI
Grand Final
Language: Italian; English
Being 1 of "The Big 5" countries, Italy need not qualify during the semi-finals. With a guaranteed spot in the Grand Final, the Italian entry "Occidentali's Karma" is already poised for a strong shot at success. At present, Italy is the favourite.
The song will be performed in Italian and English by Francesco Gabbani. Its title translates as "Westerners' Karma". Tuscan-born singer / songwriter Gabbani had previously won Italy's San Remo Festival in the Newcomers category. In 2017, he returned to win in the major section which earned him the opportunity to represent Italy at Eurovision. Gabbani helped write the lyrics and music for the song. It should prove a popular winner.

BELGIUM
CITY
LIGHTS –
BLANCHE
Semi-Final: 1
Language: English
In 2017, Belgium will be represented by an indie pop entry entitled "City Lights". The contemporary song will be performed by singer Blanche. Her real name is Ellie Delvaux. She co-wrote it with Pierre Dimoulin and Emmanuel Delcourt.
With an exciting stage presentation, the song should attract votes during Semi-Final 1. A lot will depend on Blanche's vocal ability in this heat. She has been affected by nerves in some live performances of the song. The Belgian entry is exceptional and very modern. It will hopefully qualify for the Grand Final.

SWEDEN
I
CAN’T GO ON –
ROBIN
BENGTSSON
Semi-Final: 1
Language: English
Another Swedish victory at Eurovision will equal the record currently held by Ireland for the country with the greatest success. Robin Bengtsson will do his best to secure another triumph for Sweden. His song "I Can't Go On" is very Justin Timberlake and will feature impressive choreography.
He started displaying a keen interest in playing musical instruments at a young age. The singer/ songwriter raised his profile on the TV show "Swedish Idol". Bengtsson competed in the Swedish selections last year where he finished in 5th place. In 2017, he tried again and this time emerged victorious.
His entry was written by Robin Stjernberg, David Krueger and Hamoud K-One Pirouzpanah. The former represented Sweden with "You" in 2013. Krueger has written songs recorded by Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. He also co-wrote "Undo" with Pirouzpanah. In 2014, that Swedish entry, performed by Sanna Nielsen, came 3rd.
Sweden is competing against stiff competition in Semi-Final 1, but should prove popular enough to progress through to the Grand Final. "I Can't Go On" has a strong chance to claim the big prize on the night.
