The Eagles dealt with excess on the rock track "Life In The Fast Lane". Built around a guitar riff created by Joe Walsh, the lyrics were written by his bandmates Don Henley and Glenn Frey and included on the band's 1976 album 'Hotel California'.
The song's theme involves a couple that has it all and does it all; yet fails to derive anything real from their privileged lifestyle. They over-indulge with drugs, sex and partying but are perpetually dissatisfied.
