Although "Da Funk" became popular in the dance underground scene in 1995-6, the song did not really make a mainstream impact until 1997. Its success was largely due to an unforgettable music videa directed by Spike Jonze. The French duo used this instrumental's success as a springboard for many hit singles that followed, including "One More Time", "Around The World" and "Get Lucky".
