Around the time that "Don't You Know What The Night Can Do?" was issued as a single, other acts had offered their songs for use in Michelob beer commercials. These performers included Eric Clapton and Genesis. Before being released as a single, Steve Winwood's song was featured in a Michelob campaign. This resulted in the misconception that it had first been created as a jingle.
