4 SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY Impressed by Christopher Cross’ self-titled Grammy-winning debut album, Summer asked its producer Michael Omartian to helm her next LP. The idea for the title track for this new project came to Donna at a Grammy party held for Julio Iglesias. Donna went to the restroom and encountered Onetta, a bathroom attendant. She thought that the woman sure worked hard for her wages. The next day, she started writing the song “She Works Hard For The Money”. Omartian helped compose the hit where Onetta was a waitress. Released in 1983, the song made the Top 5 in America, Canada and Australia. Donna opened the 1984 Grammy Awards telecast with the smash. |
