 THE 100 ESSENTIAL SONGS BY

DONNA SUMMER

While the 1990s was not a decade favourable to Donna Summer’s studio albums, her name was kept on charts via songs on various soundtracks and Dance Chart appearances.

35 LA VIE EN ROSE

Donna remade the Edith Piaf French classic with an upbeat makeover. Released in 1993, it was part of a tribute album devoted to the legendary chanteuse lovingly remembered as “The Little Sparrow”.

34 SENTIMENTAL

Remarkably, Geffen decided against releasing ‘Another Place And Time’ in America. This led to Summer parting ways with her record label. Import copies were arriving in the U.S. and finally, Ahmet Ertegun from Atlantic Records called Pete Waterman and the LP was released in America. “Sentimental” is one of its tracks.

33 WHO DO YOU THINK YOU’RE FOOLIN’

“Who Do You Think You’re Foolin’” was written by Prete Bellotte, Sylvester Levay and Jerry Rix.

32 SUNSET PEOPLE

Sunset Boulevard inspired Pete Bellotte to pen “Sunset People” with Harold Faltermeyer and Keith Forsey. This track closes the ‘Bad Girls’ album.

31 WITH YOUR LOVE

Donna made her major film debut portraying Nicole Sims in the 1978 disco-themed motion picture ‘Thank God It’s Friday’. “With Your Love” was one of the songs by Donna featured on the soundtrack album. The double album also contained tracks by Diana Ross, Thelma Houston, The Commodores, Paul Jabara and Pattie Brooks.
