CAFFE` LATTE`
TOP 1200 CHOICE TRACKS

#500 DANCING QUEEN Abba
If ever a perfect pop song was created, ABBA's "Dancing Queen" is it. The harmonies, from Agnetha Faltskog and Frida Lyngstad, demonstrate the impressive range the 2 female members were blessed with. The disco beat shuffles along so well, amid keyboard runs and strings, that only a cold stone heart could resist tapping along or feeling cheerful as it plays. It still packs dancefloors to this day. During the song's construction, its backing track reduced Lyngstad to tears. Its beat was inspired by George McCare's early disco hit "Rock Your Baby".
The working title for "Dancing Queen" was "Boogaloo", but the song has since evolved into a pop anthem. It has outlived the genre it celebrated; it is no longer a disco record- it's a pop classic. The 2 male members of ABBA- Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson co-wrote the song with manager Stig Anderson. The former 2 also handled its production. The track was featured on the mega-successful album 'Arrival'.
Released as a single in 1976, "Dancing Queen" became ABBA's most irresistible release. The disc became the Swedish group's only US #1. It also enjoyed a reign atop the charts in Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Europe.

This is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks. Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have universal appeal. They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2 new songs are added each day (every 12 hours)  with a mid-week bonus every Wednesday.
