#498 I JUST FALL IN LOVE AGAIN Anne Murray
Canadian country singer Anne Murray was born in 1945. After an unsuccessful audition for a TV show, she pursued a career in teaching. Fortunately for Murray, she was contacted 2 years later and persuaded to join another television series, "Let's Go". In 1968, she signed with the Arc label. Her debut album fared well and Murray's profile had grown enough for her to be signed to Capitol Records. In 1970, she scored a pop crossover hit in the USA and Britain with "Songbird". Murray had to wait 3 years for her next major hit, "Danny's Song". Greater success greeted "You Needed Me", which saw her reach #1 in America in 1978.
That chart topping disc was followed by another ballad, "I Just Fall In Love Again" the next year. The song was written by Steve Dorff, Larry Herbstritt, Harry Lloyd and Gloria Sklerov. It was featured on Murray's 'New Kind of Feeling' album. Jim Ed Norman produced the recording.
"I Just Fall..." had previously been recorded by The Carpenters and Dusty Springfield. Murray's remake reached #1 Pop in Canada and #1 on the Country and Adult Contemporary charts. On the US Hot 100, it peaked at #12.
This
is a list made up of the songs I enjoy the most, ranked in order of preference: the higher we go, the more I
cherish them. Some were released as singles, others as album tracks.
Some are obscure; others were worldwide hits or have
universal appeal.
They aren't always the most famous or popular, but simply a personal
choice. I have excluded songs from the last few years in order to get a
better idea of a song's lasting impression. I hope you find some new tracks to love, or re-discover some past favourites.
2
new songs are added each day (every 12 hours) with a mid-week bonus
every Wednesday.
