DUSTY IN MEMPHIS:
DUSTY SPRINGFIELD
 [1969]
'Dusty In Memphis' is the enduring legacy of 2 worlds aligning perfectly. British blue-eyed soul went to the source of the R&B the performer was a fan of. Dusty Springfield collaborated with Jerry Wexler, Arif Mardin and Tom Dowd (who had recorded classic cuts with Aretha Franklin) and the result was truly magical. The vocalist brought sophistication to the measured and, at times, gritty soul created at the American Studios in Memphis. There are many highlights, including "Just One Smile" and "Breakfast In Bed". This album was a watershed, influencing the likes of Paul Young, Adele and Alison Moyet. Highlight tracks: Son of a Preacher Man; The Windmills Of Your Mind & No Easy Way Down.
