The definitive list of 200 songs from the movies, recorded by by rock & pop acts since the start of the Rock Era in 1955.

To be eligible, the songs need to have been first heard in association with a film from the last 60 years (although some exceptions do exist where the song gained a higher profile after its use in a motion picture)- so no songs from “West Side Story”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “Les Miserables” or “The Sound Of Music” and other films that first started out as stage musicals.

 This remains the only Bong film song to reach #1 in the USA thus far. Duran Duran co-wrote the hit with John Barry. Roger Moore played 007 for the final time.

 Prince's 'Purple Rain' soundtrack saw 5 of its tracks issued as singles. "I Would Die 4 U" reached the American Top 10. The album cemented Prince as one of the biggest stars of the 1980s and beyond. The 'Purple Rain' soundtrack reached #1 in the USA and in other countries.

Pierce Brosnan portrayed super spy 007 in 'Die Another Day' for his final time. Madonna sang the title song which was somewhat different from past film hits. The single reached the Top 10 in the USA, UK, Europe, Canada and Australia.
