Elton’s songbook is so rich, further exploration reveals a treasure trove of gems just as deserving of attention. Caffè Lattè presents 100 deep cuts -compiled in chronological order- spanning the decades, from 1969 to the present. These tracks may be underrated or unfamiliar, but are further evidence of the talent possessed by Elton John.

THE DIVING BOARD {2013}

Elton presented the masters of his old recordings to Australian duo Pnau. They re-created new songs which resulted in the 2012 album ‘Good Morning To The Night’. A new studio album followed the next year. This project was recorded in Los Angeles. As had been the case with Elton’s previous studio album, 'The Union', T Bone Burnett handled production duties. The sleeve contained a tribute to band member Bob Birch who had died in 2012. All of the songs on ‘The Diving Board’ were composed by Elton and Bernie Taupin.   

94 Oceans Away

The album opens with a track with just Elton on piano and vocals.  

95 Oscar Wilde Gets Out

One iconic gay man singing about another. Oscar Wilde was an Irish-born poet and playwright who was jailed because of his sexuality.

 

96 Voyeur

Elton enlisted new musicians for the album. These recruits included bassist Raphael Saadiq.  

 

97 Home Again

Among the musicians on this track is renowned session player David Paich from the group Toto.
